PICS funds 30 climate internships across British Columbia

For another consecutive year, the Pacific Institute for Climate Solutions (PICS) has funded a record-breaking number of climate internships, supporting 30 organizations across British Columbia through the Climate Internship Program.

The internships will take place this upcoming summer, pairing students at PICS universities (UBC, SFU, UNBC, UVic) with organizations working on pressing climate challenges. The program provides students with practical work experience, while giving host organizations additional skills, knowledge, and capacity to move forward important climate initiatives. PICS provides up to up to $15,000 for eligible organizations to hire a student to assist with a climate action project.

Collectively the internship projects reflect the breadth of climate work happening across the province and the many ways students can contribute to real-world solutions. This year’s funded projects span diverse themes and sectors, including Indigenous-led climate planning, local government climate action, public health and climate resilience, ecosystem stewardship, and climate-focused economic transformation.

Below is an overview of the 2026 climate internship projects.

This year’s program is supported by a generous $75,000 contribution from Coast Capital Federal Credit Union.
