The Pacific Institute for Climate Solutions (PICS) is seeking a Mitigation Impact Lead to help accelerate climate action across British Columbia.

This is an opportunity for an experienced climate policy professional who thrives at the intersection of research, policy, and implementation. You’ll lead high-impact projects, work directly with decision makers, and help translate evidence into practical solutions that support a resilient, low-carbon future.

PICS is a collaborative climate institute representing British Columbia’s four major research universities: the University of Victoria, the University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, and the University of Northern British Columbia.

Our mission is to mobilize knowledge, partnerships, and innovation that support meaningful climate action. We connect researchers and decision makers to tackle some of the province’s most pressing climate challenges.

  • Lead policy analysis on priority climate mitigation issues.
  • Develop practical, decision-ready products for governments, industry, and communities.
  • Manage high-impact projects from concept through delivery.
  • Build partnerships across research, government, and community networks.
  • Translate complex evidence into clear, actionable insights.
  • Help identify emerging opportunities where PICS can make a meaningful contribution to climate solutions.
  • Produces trusted, decision-ready policy analysis that informs climate mitigation action.
  • Delivers projects on time, on budget, and with strong partner satisfaction.
  • Builds productive relationships across government, research, industry, Indigenous, and community sectors.
  • Identifies and advances high-impact opportunities aligned with PICS’ strategic priorities.
  • Demonstrates measurable influence on policies, plans, investments, or actions that support emissions reductions and climate resilience.
  • 5–10 years of experience in climate policy, applied research, strategy, or project management.
  • Strong knowledge of climate mitigation policy and governance in B.C. and Canada.
  • Experience synthesizing research and evidence for decision makers.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • A track record of delivering complex projects and collaborative initiatives.
  • Experience working with government, researchers, Indigenous partners, industry, or climate-related sectors is highly valued.

At PICS, you’ll work with leading researchers, policy experts, governments, and organizations across British Columbia to help shape climate solutions with real-world impact.

If you’re motivated by turning evidence into action and want to help drive meaningful climate progress, we’d love to hear from you.
