Director of Policy and Research Impact 

The Pacific Institute for Climate Solutions (PICS) is seeking an exceptional climate leader to join our executive team as Director of Policy and Research Impact. 

This is a unique opportunity to help shape climate policy, investment, and decision-making across British Columbia by connecting world-class research with governments, Indigenous Nations, industry leaders, communities, and organizations working toward a resilient, low-carbon future. 

As a senior leader at PICS, you will oversee our Decision Impact portfolio, build trusted relationships across sectors, and help ensure that climate research leads to meaningful and measurable outcomes. 

  • Influence climate policy and decision-making across British Columbia. 
  • Build strategic partnerships with governments, Indigenous Nations and organizations, researchers, industry, and civil society. 
  • Lead a talented team focused on research mobilization, policy analysis, and decision support. 
  • Guide high-impact research syntheses, advisory initiatives, and strategic projects. 
  • Help grow the reach, relevance, and influence of one of Canada’s leading climate institutes. 
  • Contribute to organizational strategy, leadership, and long-term sustainability. 
  • Senior leadership experience at the intersection of climate policy, research, and decision-making. 
  • Expertise in climate mitigation, adaptation, and climate solutions. 
  • Experience working with governments, Indigenous organizations, and decision-makers. 
  • Strong relationship-building, communication, and strategic thinking skills. 
  • A passion for translating knowledge into action and impact. 

PICS is a multi-university climate institute connecting the University of Victoria, University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, and University of Northern British Columbia. 

Our purpose is simple but ambitious: to catalyze and mobilize research, partnerships, and knowledge that generate climate action. 

This role offers the opportunity to work with leading researchers, influential decision-makers, and diverse partners to help shape climate solutions that matter.
